As the Jackson County School System prepares to phase out Jackson County Comprehensive High School, the system will host two meetings to gather public input.

The system will build a new high school on the west side of the county and to get proper funding from the Georgia Department of Education, they need to remove JCCHS from the state inventory. In doing so, the capital funding that went to JCCHS will then be available for the new construction.

The meetings are scheduled for Thursday, February 8 and Monday, February 12. Both meetings are a 6 p.m. The meeting February 8 will be held at the Board of Education Office and the February 12 hearing will take place at the high school.

School officials said the JCCHS building will be re-purposed for the Empower College and Career Center, as well as serving dual enrollment programs with University of North Georgia and Lanier Technical College and high-powered CTAE programs.
