As we get ready to throw the checkered flag on the holiday season - and on 2018 - the Around The Track crew has worked to bring a little taste of Georgia Racing History to this week's Hard Left Turn podcast.
With Pete McCole still on the road, Brandon Reed is again flying solo this week, as he pulls a trio of interviews from his own archive for the show this week.
Back in 2012, Brandon sat down at the Dawsonville Pool Room to talk to Gordon Pirkle, owner of the famed establishment and the head of the board of directors for the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame for a pair of interviews.
In the first, Pirkle talks about the history of racing in Dawsonville, the history of the pool room and the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame.
In the second, they discuss the Hall of Fame itself, which was then celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Also in 2012, Brandon interviewed Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Charlie Mincey. A moonshiner turned race car driver, Mincey had done everything from racing to stunt driving in the movies, and shared some of those stories.
