(UPDATE) Boys basketball: Chestatee edges Johnson; Lakeview, Union, West Hall, Jackson, Commerce, LCA win

Chestatee's Cam Gwynn and Brenton Nicholson had a 3-pointer parade against Johnson Friday night.

Gwynn nailed four 3-pointers and Nicholson fired in five from behind the arc to lead Chestatee past Johnson 62-59.

Gwynn had a team-high 21 points and Nicholson scored 17. Will Cantrell added 7 points for the War Eagles. 

Danny Garcia scored a game-high 23 points for Johnson. Jesse Harbin chipped in 14 and Johnathan Williams had 10.

Chestatee (5-1) will play Lumpkin Saturday in the North Georgia Showcase at UNG. Game time is 11 a.m.

Johnson (1-2) travels to Commerce Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

 

LAKEVIEW 81
RABUN GAP 70

Adam Cottrell scored 25 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead Lakeview past Rabun Gap in overtime Friday night at home. 

Blake McIntyre turned in a double-double performance, scored 14 points, dishing out 10 assists and snatching 5 steals.

Lakeview rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game in regulation. The Lions went on a 13-2 run to seal the win in overtime.

Arturo Varela scored 14 points and had 5 assists, Holden Cooper hit for 12 points, and KJ Millwood tossed in 10 points and pulled 8 rebounds. 

Lakeview (4-2) will play White County Saturday in the North Georgia Showcase at UNG. Game time is 12:30.

 

UNION COUNTY 56
FANNIN COUNTY 24

Pierson Allison led the Union County Panthers with 25 points in only three-quarters of action. Britt Waller and Sawyer Drake had 8 points each. 

 

JACKSON COUNTY 52
OGLETHORPE 31

Kedric Zimmer scored 21 points and Kalib Clinton had 13 to lead the Panthers over Oglethorpe Friday night.

Zimmer hit 18 of his 21 points from behind the 3-point line.

Jackson (4-1) will host Hart County Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m. 

 

COMMERCE 69
PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN 43

Ian McConnell led the Commerce Tigers past Providence Christian Friday night at home.

McConnell scored a team-high 16 points. Jalen Dorsey and Tylel Strickland hit for 13 and 12 points.

Commerce (1-1) will host Social Circle Tuesday. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

 

LANIER CHRISTIAN 70
CHEROKEE CHRISTIAN 66

Tommy Wandrum and Stephen MacLagan combined for 43 points to lead Lanier Christian Academy over Cherokee Christian Friday on the road. 
Wandrum scored 22 points and MacLagan had 21. 

LCA held off a fourth-quarter charge from Cherokee Christian to win the game. 

Trevin Last hit for 13 points. Asher Weiner added 9 points and Alec Hughes and Justin Wade had 2 points. 

 

WEST HALL 55
NORTH OCONEE 51

Noah Edmondson poured in 20 points and Sawyer Passmore added 12 points, including a pair of free throws with 2.2. seconds left, to help secure the first win of the season for the Spartans.
 
West Hall (1-4) avenged a lopsided season-opening loss to the Titans two weeks ago.
 
The Spartans led 28-22 at the half and 47-38 entering the fourth quarter.
 
West Hall next will play host to Johnson in the first installment of The Battle of Oakwood on Dec. 8.
