(UPDATE) Girls basketball: Lumpkin erupts in the 4th to beat White; Chestatee, Lakeview, Rabun, Towns all win

Isabel Davenport continues to be the constant scorer for the Lumpkin County Lady Indians. 

She poured in 17 points, 9 from 3-point land to lead the Lady Indians' rally past White County 53-43 at home Friday night.

“White County is a very good team,” Lumpkin coach David Dowse said. “It took everything we had to grind out the win. That said, I’m so proud of our team. They battled through injury and adversity and found a way to win. I love these kids - absolute warriors.”

Both teams battled back-and-forth in the first half, ending knotted at 20. 

It was much of the same in the third quarter with the Lady Warriors, led by Dasha  
Cannon, taking a three-point lead at the end of the quarter.

The Lady Indians, however, erupted in the fourth quarter, led by Davenport and MaKenzie Caldwell, outscoring White 23-10.

Caldwell finished the night with 16 points. MacKenzie Pulley had 11 points, Clara White nailed 5 points, and Ashlynn Wistoski had 4 points.

Cannon led White with 13 points, Chesnee Freeman had 11 points, Bentley Cronic with 8, Madison Adams scored 5, and Naomi Crumley, Rachel Lovell and Makenna Moose all had 2.

Lumpkin will play Chestatee Saturday at 9:30 in the North Georgia Showcase at UNG.

White County will take on North Gwinnett Saturday in the North Georgia Showcase on the campus of UNG. Game time is 2 p.m. 

 

CHESTATEE 59
JOHNSON 18

The Chestatee Lady War Eagles rolled past Johnson 59-18 Friday night at home.

Maggie NcNair led Chestatee with 11 points.

“The team played a very clean and unselfish game,” Chestatee coach Sutton Shirley said. “I was very impressed with all 13 of them.”

Christina Garcia chipped in 9 points. Nicole Sedwick had 7 and Morgan McNeal and Emma Easterwood both scored 6 points.

Chestatee (4-3) will play Lumpkin County Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the North Georgia Showcase at UNG.

 

LAKEVIEW 76
RABUN GAP 73

It was an old-fashioned barn-burner as the Lakeview Lady Lions knocked off Rabun Gap in double overtime Friday night at home.

Joelle Snyder scored 18 points and Eliza Snyder tallied 17 to lead the Lady Lions.

Savannah Kinsey hit for 12 points, and Maddy Towles had 11 points and 3 assists.

Sadie Thrailkill only scored 6 points but ripped won 11 rebounds and 7 takeaways.

Lakeview (4-2) will host Tallulah Falls Saturday, Dec. 8th at 6 p.m.

 

TOWNS COUNTY 48
ATHENS CHRISTIAN 29

Towns County snapped a two-game losing streak with a dominating win over their Regiion 8-A fos on the road.
 
The Lady Indians forced 30 turnovers and hit eight 3-pointers in the game. Kennedi Henson led Towns County with 23 points, including draining six treys.
 
Taylor Cornett led the defensive charge for Towns and chipped in 9 points.
 
The Lady Indians next will will travel to Tallulah Falls on Tuesday.

 

RABUN COUNTY 75
WALHALLA, (S.C.) 24

The Rabun County Lady Wildcats didn’t need any steam as they rolled over Walhalla, SC with ease Friday night at home.

Brooke Henricks set the pace for the Lady Wildcats, scoring 15 points.

Laken Stiles played the robber role with 7 steals. She also tossed in 12 points and dished out 4 assists.

Georgia Stockton hit for 10 points, and the sister duo, Destiny and Gracie Deetz scored 8 points each.

Rabun County (2-0) will play North Forsyth Saturday in the North Georgia Showcase at UNG. Game time is 2 p.m.
