Communities across North Georgia spread holiday cheer with parades, tree lightings, special events

If you're looking for some Christmas spirit, you'll find it in most every community in North Georgia!

We'll add to our list of holiday happenings as we hear from you! Please feel free to send your community event to [email protected], and we'll let others know about what's happening in your town this season. (Please note that events are removed from the scheduled once they are completed.)

Monday, December 24

CHRISTMAS EVE CHURCH SERVICES:

Christ Place Church
3428 Atlanta Highway, Flowery Branch
Family Worship Service
Carols, communion and baptism will be part of the 4 p.m. service. 

Lakewood Baptist Church
2235 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville
Two Christmas Eve services will be held in the chapel of the church. The 5 p.m. service includes baptism and the Lord's Supper, while the 10 p.m. service is a candlelight service. 

McEver Road United Methodist Church
3606 McEver Road, Oakwood
Annual Christmas Eve Service
A service of candles and Communion with special visits by Isaiah and Luke begins at 7 p.m. 

 

Tuesday, December 25

Annual Community Christmas Dinner at the Sautee-Nacoochee Center
283 Hwy. 255 in Sautee
12 - 3 p.m. Sharing room open for clothes and household items
1-4 p.m. Traditional Christmas meal is served
The 16th annual event sponsored by Caring Hands Ministry is open to the community to make sure no one is alone on the Christmas holiday. In addition to the meal, organizers will provide toys for children and teens beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Polar Bear Plunge on Lake Lanier
Lake Lanier Olympic Park
3105 Clarks Bridge Road, Gainesville
This annual event is a fundraiser for the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club. Check in and on-site registration begins at 10:45 a.m. on New Year's Day. The jump begins at noon. All pre-registered jumpers will receive an event t-shirt in their size. To pre-register, follow this link
