Investigators are working to determine what caused a fire that destroyed part of a large chicken house in the eastern part of Hall County.
Fire Captain Zachary Brackett said the fire happened on Cedar Creek Road just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
"They did get a stop on the fire," Brackett said. "They lost about half the chicken house due to this incident. The rest of the chicken house was able to be saved."
Brackett said there was around 9,000 laying hens inside the chicken house. He said some of the birds were killed, but he was unsure how many died.
