Two historic theaters in northeast Georgia received a helping hand in the form of grant funds from the Fox Theater Institute in Atlanta, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The historic Peachtree Street theater's non-profit arm announced plans to dole out nearly $480,000 in grant money to a dozen historic Georgia theaters, as well as one in Alabama.

In northeast Georgia, Clarkesville's Habersham Community Theater will use its $48,400 grant to stabilize the building’s facade, as well as for historic brick and stucco repair and a potential beam installation.

The Holly Theater in Dahlonega will use its award of $6,600 to study the structural integrity of the stage and backstage area.

This marks the first year the organization granted funds to an out-of-state theater. The Elba Theater in Elba, Alabama will receive funds to help with the cost of roof repair.
