The Archbishop of Atlanta for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta released a list Tuesday of priests and others "credibly accused" of sexual abuse of a minor, which includes some who served in North Georgia churches.

The list, published on the Archdiocese of Atlanta website and compiled by members not employed by the archdiocese, used the "best information available to use at this time" and spans from the present time back to the establishment of the Diocese of Atlanta in 1956, according to an introduction written by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory.

"Along with the publication of this information, I also renew my apology for the damage that young lives have suffered and the profound sorrow and anger that our families have endured. It is a response in faith that must accompany this listing," Gregory wrote in the introduction.

The list is compiled in three sections: Archdiocesan Priests with credible allegations of child abuse in the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Religious Order/Other Diocesan Priests with credible allegations of child abuse in the Archdiocese of Atlanta, and Religious Order Priests with credible allegations of child abuse outside the Archdiocese of Atlanta.

In Gainesville, Jorge Cristancho and Raymond Horan are listed as priests with credible allegations of child abuse in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Cristancho was listed as working at St. Michael in Gainesville from 1996 to 2001 and was permanently removed from the ministry in 2003. Horan worked at Mother of Our Divine Savoir in Toccoa from 1974 to 1977, and he also served at St. Joseph's in Athens for two years, starting in 1971.

Stanley Dominic Idziak was listed as working at a St. Michael church, however it did not indicate if it was the Gainesville location, from 1985 to 1988. He was removed from the ministry in 1987, permanently in 1992, and died in 2012.

Elsewhere in the region, Sergio Mauricio Calle Perez was listed as working at a Prince of Peace church in 1999. While no city was listed, AccessWDUN archives indicate Calle Perez worked at the Buford location, which is now located in Flowery Branch. He was also listed as working at churches in Lilburn and Lawrenceville before he was permanently removed from ministry in 2004.

Robert Poandl was listed in the third section, which related to those who were credibly accused outside of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Poandl was convicted in 2013 for sexual assaulting a 10 year old boy in Ohio. Poandl worked at churches in Georgia, including St. Luke in Dahlonega in 1979 to 1981, St. Paul the Apostle in Cleveland in 1981 to 1988 and St. Francis of Assisi in Blairsville at that same time.

In addition, others were listed outside of AccessWDUN's 10 county coverage area. The full list is available through this link in both English and Spanish. Click one of the blue bars at the bottom of the page to access the document. Resources to report suspected abuse are also available on that page. The list will be updated if any new accusations are made.
