Two people are in jail following a chase down Interstate 985 with Georgia State Patrol (GSP) troopers Wednesday.

According to a report from Gainesville's GSP Post 6, a trooper pulled over a vehicle driven by Samuel Rivers, 29, East Point for a speeding violation.  As the trooper approached the car, Rivers sped away. The trooper followed Rivers and after the vehicles crossed into Gwinnett County, the trooper performed a PIT maneuver to stop Rivers' vehicle.

GSP said Rivers sustained minor injuries when his vehicle crashed; he was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation. A passenger in the car Brittanie Long, 21, of Buford was charged with possession of marijuana.

Investigating troopers said Rivers had a list of outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Both Rivers and Long were taken to the Hall County Detention Center.
