A 28-year-old teacher from Lawrenceville apparently shot and killed himself after allegations came to light about his sexual involvement with a 6th grade student.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Zachary Meadors was facing several charges in Dekalb County when he went missing. He was last seen on Saturday.

His body was discovered in a vehicle Wednesday afternoon on Scenic Highway.

Meadors had been an English teacher at Freedom Middle School in Dekalb County for the past two years, according to the newspaper report.

The newspaper said Meadors left a letter at his parents' home apologizing for his interaction with the student.
