As law enforcement continues an investigation into a fatal crash on I-85 in Banks County, authorities are detouring traffic from the interstate.

Banks County Sheriff's Capt. Carissa McFaddin said the northbound lanes of the interstate are closed at Mile Marker 153.

"Traffic is being diverted off of Exit 149 (Banks Crossing) to Highway 59," McFaddin said. "Traffic will then be able to return to I-85 in Franklin County at Exit 166."

McFaddin said motorists should expect extensive delays in the area.

A preliminary report indicated that at least three vehicles were involved in the crash. One person has been killed.
