The City of Cumming is reporting a sewer spill into Haw Creek earlier this month.
While the spill was not considered major, according to a statement from Cumming Utilities, officials said 6,700 gallons seeped into the creek in the area of Samples Road in Cumming. The problem was a malfunction of the pump station control system, according to the statement.
Officials said the control system was reset, which corrected the problem, and lime was spread in the affected area.
The spill occurred on Jan. 16. It was reported publicly Tuesday, Jan. 30.
