Posted 3:56PM on Monday 29th January 2018 ( 6 years ago )

A pair of house fires forced the closure of U.S. 129/Athens Highway in the East Hall area Monday afternoon.

No injuries were reported when the 1,000- and 2,000-square foot structures went up in flames, said Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zach Brackett in an email update.

Brackett said the houses were located at 3330 and 3380 Athens Highway in Gainesville.

As of 4 p.m. the 1,000-square foot home's fire had been completely extinguished, with crews remaining on scene to put out the hot spots.

The "main body of fire" had been extinguished on the 2,000-square foot home, with crews ventilating the roof of the structure, said Brackett.

Investigators are looking into the cause of both fires.
