Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden is issuing one last reminder to property owners who have yet to pay their 2017 property taxes.

The 2017 property tax bills were mailed Sept.15 and due Nov. 15.

"We make many efforts to remind taxpayers of due dates," Eden said.  "In December, we mailed courtesy reminder letters, and now we want property owners to know that further collection efforts could result in additional fees and costs."

Eden encourages full payment of any outstanding balance as soon as possible because state-mandated penalty and interest accrue until the balance is paid in full.

In accordance with state law, the tax commissioner's office will issue Intent to Fi Fa (writ of fieri facias) Notices on Jan. 18.  A Fi Fa Tax Lien is a court document that instructs the levy officer to seize and sell a defendant's property in order to satisfy a tax lien.  This third and final notice will serve as a reminder of unpaid property tax and provide the required 30-day notice of an Intent to File a Fi Fa Tax Lien.

February 18 is the last day to pay in full before a Fi Fa Tax Lien may be filed against the property.

"I want to make sure taxpayers are aware of the consequences of not paying property tax, and I also want to make sure they are aware that our office has a number of different payment mechanisms-whether in-person or online-in order to make the process easier for them," said Eden.

The tax office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Property tax inquiries and payments may be made in person or online at www.hallcountytax.org.  Tax payments may also be mailed to the address listed below.

Questions or requests for assistance should be directed to the tax commissioners office.   Call 770-531-6950, fax to 770-531-7111 or email [email protected].
