Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow has named Winder native Heather Standard as its chief nursing officer.

“I am excited to return to my community and help fulfill Northeast Georgia Health System’s mission of ‘improving the health of our community in all we do,’” said Standard, who is also a graduate of Winder-Barrow High School.

A long-tenured member of NGMC, Standard started her career at NGMC Gainesville 24 years ago as a certified nursing assistant in Inpatient Rehabilitation. She later joined the Women and Children’s staff as a registered nurse before being promoted to charge nurse and unit manager. In July 2016, Standard was named director of Women and Children’s Services and served on the leadership team providing oversight for the development and implementation of NGMC Braselton’s Labor and Delivery unit.

“Heather is an incredible asset to Northeast Georgia Health System, and we are thrilled to welcome her back home to the Barrow community,” said Chad Hatfield, president of NGMC Barrow. For more information about services at NGMC Barrow, visit nghs.com/Barrow.
