A custodian who worked at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville has been accused of videotaping female students in a school bathroom.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office arrested Timothy Brian Burnette, 40, of Union Point, on Wednesday and charged him with unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance, according to a report in the Athens Banner Herald.

Sheriff Scott Berry told the newspaper that a student found the phone and turned it over to administrators, who in turn called law enforcement.

The GBI and the FBI are assisting with the investigation.

Berry said that investigators also went to Burnette's home and confiscated other devices.

The newspaper reported the Burnette had worked at the high school since August 2017, but has since been fired.
