A Snellville man has been arrested for allegedly branding a five month old baby with a heat gun.

Tory Gentry, 36, was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit Monday, according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office. He's being held without bond on charges of cruelty to children in the first degree and aggravated battery.

The post said the baby and a two year old sibling were taken into DFACS custody after doctors discovered multiple rib fractures and bruising to the baby. The baby was also diagnosed with "failure to thrive."

"Law enforcement officers help keep people safe every day, but it's especially rewarding (and heartbreaking) to do so when the victim is a tiny baby. Kudos to Gwinnett County Police on a job well done," said the post. "If you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected, report it. Sadly, some victims are too young to tell anyone that someone is hurting them."

Gwinnett Police secured the warrants for Gentry and he was booked into jail just before noon Monday.
