UPDATE: Boys basketball: Dix gets 300th career win; Banks County, North Hall, Lakeview, Jefferson win

BLUE RIDGE — East Hall boys basketball coach Joe Dix saw his team claim a 90-49 victory on Tuesday in Blue Ridge to record his 300th career victory.

The Vikings (8-7, 4-1 Region 7-AAA) dominated paced by Jayvion Rucker with 14 points, while TJ Campbell added 10 and Lavoy Hill and DJ Gray 9 apiece.

East Hall led 41-22 at half then exploded for 38 points in the third quarter.

East Hall plays host to Lumpkin County on Friday night.

 

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 64, 
RABUN COUNTY 49

Carl Cleveland and Dylan Orr both recorded double-doubles for the Leopards in a Region 8-AA win on the road.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Banks County (14-3, 3-1 Region 8-AA) while it was the third straight loss for the Wildcats (1-14, 0-3).

Cleveland finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds and Orr added 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Leopards opened the game with an 18-10 run. They led 39-26 at halftime and took a 51-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Leopards had 18 assists on the night with their 26 field goals.

Rabun County  was led Tevan Dixon's 12 points. Kasin Old added 10 points for the Wildcats.

Both teams will be back in Region 8-AA action on Friday. Banks County will play host to Putnam County in a battle for second place in the region. The Wildcats will play host to Social Circle.

 

NORTH HALL BOYS 57,
LUMPKIN COUNTY 35

The Trojans rolled over the Indians on Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Noah Holman scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Trojans, while Taylor Hanson added 7.

Peyton Polk scored 14 points to lead the Indians.

North Hall trailed 10-8, but charged in front 29-14 at the half and put the game away in the third quarter with a 47-24 advantage.


LAKEVIEW BOYS 66,
COMMERCE 32

Jack Blackburn and Adam Cottrell each scored 12 points to lead the Lions (9-5, 6-0 Region 8-A) to the win on Tuesday in Commerce. Arturo Varela also added 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Blake McIntyre and KJ Millwood each scored 9 points in the win.

Creed Dunbar and Jaylen Dorsey led Commerce (2-12, 0-5) with 8 points apiece.

Lakeview plays host to Riverside Military Academy at 6 p.m. Friday.


JEFFERSON BOYS 56, 
OCONEE COUNTY 47

The Dragons (11-6, 3-0 Region 8-AAAA) won their fourth straight and ninth in 10 games on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jasper Gibson scored 25 points to lead Jefferson, while Jacob Radeker added 13.

The Dragons will play host to St. Pius at 8:30 p.m. Friday in a battle for sole possession of first in Region 8-AAAA.
