A Forsyth County man is facing charges in connection to the death of his infant daughter, authorities said Friday.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and county fire department responded to a medical emergency call on Little Mill Road on Wednesday, according to a media release from Cpl. Doug Rainwater.

"The father initially reported finding the infant unresponsive while in the bed with both parents," Rainwater stated.

First responders transported 3-month-old Skylar Picklesimer to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Authorities then launched an investigation with the office's Major Crimes Unit.

"Further continued investigation revealed that the infant suffered significant trauma to the head," Rainwater wrote.

Investigators interviewed both parents and arrested Skylar's father, Jacob Picklesimer, 23.  He's charged with involuntary manslaughter and first degree cruelty to children, according to Rainwater.

Jacob Picklesimer remained in the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond on Friday.

Funeral services Skylar Picklesimer will be held Monday, January 8, at 2 p.m. at Christian Hill Baptist Church.

The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the death.
