A plane was heavily damaged — but the pilot uninjured — in a crash Tuesday night in Barrow County.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. near the Barrow County Airport in Winder, according to Barrow County EMS Capt. Scott Dakin.

"The pilot made it out of the plane and was able to call for help," said Dakin in a statement.

"Upon arrival we found a small single prop plane in the wood line of a pasture that was across the street from the airport on Highway 82."

The pilot did not complain of any injuries, and was the only person on board the plane when it went down.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
