The 90-year-old man ejected from a pickup truck Friday afternoon on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville is in stable condition, according to Gainesville Police.

Hubert Deaton was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck, turning left out of the Publix parking lot when he apparently failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming Toyota Sienna, said Sgt. Kevin Holbrook in an email to AccessWDUN Monday afternoon.

The crash was "nearly head-on" according to Holbrook, and it sent four of the seven passengers in the van to the hospital, all in stable condition.

The van ultimately crashed into the Honey Baked Ham store across the street from Publix.

At the time of the wreck, Deaton's injuries were described as "serious."

Gainesville Police are still investigating the crash.
