COLUMBUS, Miss. - On Saturday night, Spencer Hughes made Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series history with a win in the 14th annual Governors Cup at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi.

The victory by the 16-year-old from Meridian, Mississippi made him youngest winner in series history.

Hughes battled with Nick Thrash for second behind leader Brian Rickman late in the going. But a late caution bunched the field, and on the restart with four laps to go, Hughes was able to get past Rickman for the lead, and drove away for the win.

Rickman, who was also looking for his first series victory, had to settle for second, with Thrash in third, Morgan Bagley in the fourth and Chandler Petty in fifth.

Rick Rickman, Garret Albertson, T.J. Reaid, Dane Dacus and Hunter Rasdon rounded out the top ten.

The Southern All returns to action on Friday and Saturday nights, October 6 and 7 Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee. For more information, visit SASDirt.com.
