Volleyball: Johnson splits matches; North Hall wins tournament title

LILBURN — The Johnson volleyball team split matches on Saturday at Providence Christian. 

The Lady Knights (8-14) defeated Loganville Christian 2-0 (25-23, 25-22), fell to Providence 2-0 (25-15, 25-22), lost to Walnut Grove 2-0 (25-14, 25-12) and defeated Trinity 2-1 (23-25, 25-18, 15-5).

Grace Eidson had 28 kills, 20 digs, 25 assists, 4 aces and 1 block to help lead Johnson, while Alivia Farley had 12 kills, 17 assists, 11 digs. Kellie Tran also had 15 kills, while Julia Bowers had 10 digs. Emily Pena had 15 digs; Samantha Summerville had 7 kills and 4 aces. 

Johnson plays again Tuesday against Cedar Shoals and Clarke Central. 


NORTH HALL SWEEPS THROUGH INVITATIONAL

The Lady Trojans won five matches to take the Athens Academy invitational title on Saturday. 

North Hall defeated Winder Barrow 25-18, 25-12 and then took out Clarke Central 25-6, 25-4, Athens Academy 25-15, 28-26, Apalachee 25-16, 25-16 and Mt. Paran Christian 25-22 and 28-26 in the championship game. 

Lily Paschall had 107 assists, 9 aces, 7 kills had 21 digs to help lead the Lady Trojans, while Melissa DeVerter had 35 kills, 18 blocks and 13 digs. Autumn Tucker had 41 kills, 39 digs; Lena Strickland had 38 digs, 4 aces; Holly Worden had 13 aces; Grace Hollifield had 6 kills , 3 blocks; Caroline Brady had 18 kills, 6 aces, 17 digs; Molly Martin had 15 digs; Madison Brock had 11 kills, 4 aces; and Savannah Miller had 2 kills.

North Hall plays at Fannin County on Tuesday.
