Buford rolls past Melbourne, Fla. team

BUFORD — Christian Turner and Anthony Grant combined for four touchdowns to lead Buford to a 34-17 win over Melbourne Central Catholic (Fla.) Friday night at Tom Riden Stadium.

Turner ran for 126 yards,including an 81-yard touchdown jaunt, and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Aaron McLaughlin. Grant returned an interception 33-yards for a touchdown and added a 1-yard touchdown run as the Wolves (2-0) built a 34-3 lead by the third quarter.

Derrian Brown added a 12-yard touchdown run.

Melbourne got a third quarter touchdown pass to trim it to 34-9 and a blocked punt for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final points.

Buford had 348 total yards of offense, including 221 rushing, for the game. Melbourne finished with 276 total yards.

Buford takes a bye next week before hosting International School of Broward on Sept. 8.
