New Sardis compactor will open Tuesday in Hall County

Posted 5:24PM on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 ( 6 years ago )

Hall County's busiest compactor site is scheduled to open Tuesday, Aug. 8, officials announced.

The current site, located at 2801 Sardis Road, will be moving to a larger location on Brackett Drive, which county officials say is a less-traveled corridor.

"The new site will look different than the old one as the compactors themselves are above ground and there are multiple lanes to keep traffic flowing while trash and recyclables are being unloaded," said Hall County Public Works Director Ken Rearden in a statement.

The old site, which was leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be re-graded and returned to the corps.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 9 a.m. that day.
