Hogan pulls away to win GJGA's Grand Championship

CANTON — Gainesville High standout Ryan Hogan fired a final round 2-over-par 74 to win the Georgia Junior Golf Association's Grand Championship for the boys 15-18-year-old division on Wednesday at Woodmont Golf and Country Club in Canton.

Hogan, who completed the three-day event with a 1-under 215, finished three shots better than Matthew Cleary of Dalton, who shot a 1-over 73 on the final round. Hogan pulled away on the back nine, draining five birdie putts.

Flowery Branch standout Connor Gillespie shot a 75 to finish tied for 16th.

Gainesville's Sam Patterson shot a final round 79 to finish fourth in the 13-14 age division.

Meanwhile, Morgan Nichol finished ninth in the girls 12-and-up division with a closing round of 88.
