Officials: Joe Chandler Road bridge open to traffic two days early

The new Joe Chandler Road bridge, originally set to open Friday, was opened to traffic on Wednesay, according to officials.

Hall County Government spokeswoman Katie Crumley said early Wednesday evening that contractors had notified county authorities that they were well ahead of their completion schedule, allowing the bridge to be re-opened two days early.

The bridge was closed in April for replacement, which officials said was necessary due to its age, according to a news release from the Hall County Government.

"I'd like to commend the contractor, E.R. Snell, for expeditiously completing this project ahead of schedule," said Hall County Engineer III Denise Farr in a statement.

The project was funded by SPLOST revenue.
