Forsyth County authorities have arrested a man on three counts of arson in connection to a series of fires set within a week of one another earlier this month.

Piyushkumar Dayalaji Mistry, 38, is accused of setting a fire July 5 at the clubhouse of the Springmonte subdivision in South Forsyth, July 8 at the neighborhood pavilion and July 11 at a vehicle in the Saddlebrook subdivision, according to Division Chief Barry Head, Forsyth County Fire Department.

Mistry lives in the Springmonte subdivision, said Head. Nobody was injured in any of the fires.

A Forsyth County Sheriff's deputy happened to stop a car, driven by Mistry, with an expired tag in the area of the vehicle fire on July 11, and noticed "items in the vehicle that raised suspicion."

Fire investigators got a search warrant for Mistry's home, and found evidence linking Mistry to all three fires.

Mistry was already in jail on unrelated charges when the Forsyth County Fire Marshal's Office charged him with three counts of arson on Wednesday.

Head said more charges are possible, as the investigation is ongoing.
