A fire at a meat processing plant in Tennessee has disrupted supply for a Gainesville-based meat production company.
McEver Meat said in a press release Tuesday evening that stores that sell their products will likely see stalls in supply from the company during July. McEver Meat owner Bryce Elliott said in the release that the company is looking at different options to restore their supply until the plant in Lenoir City, where the fire occurred, is fully operational again.
“We have reached out to some other plants that make products similar to ours to see if we can get them to use our recipe temporarily to make some product for us until we get going," Elliott said. "We’re working around the clock with the processing plant to find a temporary home for production."
The fire was at a Family Brands International processing plant on June 21. McEver, which has operated in northeast Georgia since the 1920's, sells pork and beef products to grocery stores including Kroger, Ingles, Publix and Walmart.
The release provided no timetable for when the Lenoir City plant would have full operations restored.
