Downtown Gainesville will take on a "beach-like" setting late next week as the annual Beach Bash returns.
This will be the third such event in Gainesville and will feature a beach, limbo and hula hoop contests, live music and more from 6:00-10:00 p.m. on the square.
City spokeswoman Catiel Felts said 100 tons of sand will be deposited in the center of town starting Thursday in preparation for the event.
