The Hall County Board of Education is expected to approve new school attendance zones for the South Hall area - along with a new budget and tax rate - when it meets Monday night.

Plans for the new attendance zones, outlined here, have drawn strong opposition from some parents in recent weeks, especially those living in Sterling on the Lake.  They have expresed their opposition via social media and at two public hearings on the matter.

School officials say the changes would be effective with the 2018-19 school year.

At 6:00, the board will hold a final public hearing on the proposed budget and school tax rate increase.  After the hearing, board members are scheduled vote on both the budget and the tax rate.

The board meets at 5:00 at school district offices on Green Street.

Parents make their way into the Flowery Branch High School gym May 30 to discuss redistricting plans. About 150 showed up for the hearing.
