Officials say Lula working to obtain sewer easements

LULA — The Lula City Council heard Monday that the city has obtained one needed sewer easement and is working to gain a second.

“We did receive a short easement on a 270-acre tract just about 1,700 feet northbound [on Ga. 365] right off of Athens Street,” said Mayor Milton Turner. “Then we’ve got another easement we’re dealing with Mr. Nichols that he says he’s willing to work with us on, which gives us southbound over on 365 and ties into our main sewer line.”

The easements are part of a sewer expansion project the city has been working toward in the Ga. 365 area for several months.

The city’s engineering firm has developed several options for installation of sewer lines in the area, with council members left to decide the ones most important to immediate and future development.
