A Lawrenceville man was booked into the Hall County Jail over the weekend for his alleged part in a robbery sham at a fast food restaurant off of Friendship Road.

It turns out the robbery of the McDonalds restaurant on Golden Parkway on Saturday, April 8, involved an employee who acted like a victim.  Investigators got the break in the case when they interviewed the woman, Shawneequa Carol McCall, 28, of Norcross.

"She admitted that it (robbery) was an inside job.  They (McCall and alleged robber) knew one another.  They were working in conjunction the whole time," Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware said.

The purported robber, Carl Edward Sanders, 29, was wearing a mask and had a gun during the incident, according to Ware.  He allegedly made off with $2,249.

McCall was charged with theft by taking and false statements to a law enforcement agency on April 12.  She posted bond on May 5, according to Ware.

"At that point, Investigators were able to identify Sanders and obtain warrants for his arrest," Ware wrote in a news release.

Already in custody in Dekalb County, Sanders was booked into the Hall County Jail on Saturday.  He's charged with felony theft by taking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He remained in Jail Tuesday afternoon on $17,100 bond.
