The American Red Cross of Northeast Georgia hosted a “Heroes Lunch” on Thursday to recognize and thank local public safety members on behalf of the community. The event at the Gainesville Public Safety Complex welcomed members from the Gainesville Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Fire Department and Hall County Fire Services.

“Every day these men and women work to keep our communities safe and stable, a priority that the American Red Cross promotes,” said Executive Director Laura Allen. “While lunch is a small token of our appreciation, our local Board of Directors wanted to recognize and thank them for their service and assistance.”

Anthony Dye, American Red Cross of Northeast Georgia board chairman, began the event by thanking public safety for its crucial role in community disaster and emergency response, as well as recognizing the sponsors whose generosity made the event possible.

State Rep. Matt Dubnik, R-Gainesville, blessed the food and offered a prayer for protection of those in attendance.

“The Heroes Lunch is one small way we can say ‘thank you’ to these dedicated public servants for helping us fulfill our mission of providing relief to victims of disasters and helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies,” Allen said.

Corporate sponsors for the lunch included American Proteins, Summit Industrial, American Woodmark and Raymond James. Food sponsors included Longstreet Café, PFG Milton, Papa John’s Gainesville and Mellow Mushroom Green Street.
