Posted 11:49AM on Wednesday 17th May 2017 ( 6 years ago )

Police are searching for a Lanier Christian Academy student after she reportedly went missing Tuesday afternoon from her Braselton home

Maria Leggiero, 14, is described as a white female, 5'3" tall and weighing 115 pounds. She was last seen wearing a Lanier Christian Academy school uniform polo shirt.

Braselton Police Chief Terry Esco said the girl's mother told  investigators she last saw Maria in the back yard of the family home in the Legends neighborhood of Chateau Elan Estates around 4 p.m. The mother called police around 7:15 p.m. after she could not find the girl.

Esco said his agency is getting help in the search from the GBI and local law enforcement from surrounding counties.

He confirmed in a telephone interview that police have received tips from at least three people who think they saw the girl in Gwinnett County; none of the tips panned out, however.

Anyone with information on Maria's whereabouts is asked to contact Braselton Police at 706-658-2852 or to call 911.
