Suwanee enters partnership for parking at new development near Town Center

Suwanee City Council has given its approval for a $1.73 million contract for access to 150 parking spaces in a new five-story parking structure coming to a development adjacent to Town Center Park.

The $46.5 million development by Terwilliger-Pappas will be adjacent to Chicago Street and Buford Highway on an 18-acre lot, and it will include street level retail outlets with apartments above them, plus a 70-unit town home development.

The project was approved in November.

"(The deck), because of the topography, is going to really go down, more than it's going to go up," said Marty Allen, city manager.

Suwanee will have control of the top "floor and a half" according to Allen, with the remainder of the deck separated for use by the new development, which is tentatively called the "Solis Project."

Planners are still working to determine what that separation would entail.

"There's lots of options, but technology would separate the different areas," said Allen.

The contract was approved by council members at their voting meeting Tuesday night.

The project should be under construction in the summer, and should be finished in approximately 18-20 months, Allen said.
