More charges have been levied against a Flowery Branch accused of stealing checks out of mail boxes, altering them and — utilizing a fraudulent identification card — using them to make purchases.

Charles Quentin Malin, 38, of Flowery Branch was arrested Friday by Oakwood Police and Hall County Sheriff's deputies, originally charged with one count of identity theft for his alleged crimes in Oakwood, police said.

On Wednesday, Hall County deputies added four more counts of identity theft, six counts of forgery (fourth degree), one count of forgery (second degree), one count of theft by receiving and three counts of manufacturing fraudulent documents.

Those charges came following a search of Malin's home on River Road in Flowery Branch on April 14, where deputies found multiple stolen checks, stolen mail, fraudulent driver's licenses and a computer, according to Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware.

"The computer will be analyzed, and depending on what data is located on the computer, more charges could be coming," said Ware.

Malin is accused of passing the stolen checks at Walmart stores in Oakwood and Commerce, according to Oakwood Police Sgt. Danny Sridej.

Police believe more victims may be out there, and they're asking anyone who believes they may have fallen victim to such a crime to contact law enforcement. The Hall County Sheriff's Office's non-mergency line is (770) 536-8812.

Malin was already on bond for a previous run-in with deputies, charged with possession of marijuana and transaction card theft November 18.
