Tennis: North Hall girls take 1st region title in 10 years

DAWSONVILLE — The North Hall girls tennis team captured its first region title in a decade Thursday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Greater Atlanta Christian in the Region 7-AAA finals.

Lauren Davis won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Christen Barnes won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Raquel Kallab and Carsen Baumgardner won 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the match and title. Anna Montgomery was ahead 6-3, 3-0 at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Sydney Patterson and Annalise Gregory were ahead 6-4, 4-3 when both matches were pulled.

The girls improved to 15-4 on the season.

However, the North Hall boys fell to Greater Atlanta Christian 3-0 in the finals to finish with the No. 2 seed in the upcoming state tournament.

It was the fourth consecutive region final for the boys (two championships and two runner-up finishes).

The Spartans got wins in all three singles matches. The North Hall boys are now 9-10 on the season.
