A Georgia State Patrol trooper and a K9 officer found $70,000 in cash during a traffic stop on I-85 in Banks County Sunday night.

Cpl. Spencer Munger with the Gainesville Post of the Georgia State Patrol said via email Monday morning TFC Forrester stopped a vehicle going 90 miles per hour in the southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 154 just after 8:15 p.m.

"After interviewing the occupants of the vehicle, TFC Forrester believed there to be indicators of criminal activity," Munger wrote. "TFC Forrester deployed K9 Bull, which resulted in the K9 detecting."

Munger said of the $70,000 discovered, $50,000 was unclaimed by the occupants of the vehicle.

"The cash was seized and Banks County is assisting with the forfeiture," Munger said.

At this point, investigators are not saying what type of criminal activity the trooper suspected. The names of the occupants of the vehicle have not been made public.
