The non-emergency phone lines at Hall County's 9-1-1/Central Communications Office experienced outages throughout the day Tuesday after a fiber was cut somewhere between the Hall County Emergency Services Complex on Crescent Drive and AT&T's central office in Gainesville.

Hall County Government officials made the announcement about the outages during the early-morning hours, emphasizing that emergency 9-1-1 lines were up and running.

"While citizens may temporarily have trouble reaching our administrative lines for non-emergency inquiries, we want to assure them that the 9-1-1 phone lines have not been affected and they will not experience any delay in reaching one of our dispatchers in the case of an emergency," said Gail Lane, director of Hall County 911.

In an email update sent to local media shortly after 7 p.m., Hall County officials said the severed cable had been repaired and that all non-emergency lines were operational.
