The Hall County Multi Agency Narcotics Squad, assisted by several other agencies, confiscated cocaine and heroin worth over $6.2 million in an Oakwood area bust Thursday.

MANS Task Force officers arrested two women while serving the search warrant at a residence on Crawford Oaks Drive off of McEver Road. One of those women, Karla Alvarez, 28, is a Chestatee Middle School Academy Spanish teacher, according to Hall County School District spokesman Gordon Higgins.

Alvarez and Monica Pascual Brito, 24, were arrested without incident, according to a MANS news release. Investigators Friday afternoon were still seeking Ricardo Pascual Brito, 25, in the case.

All three suspects lived in the same home, according to Hall County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware. Monica and Ricardo Brito are brother and sister.

Alvarez, according to Higgins, was also coach of the middle school girls’ soccer team at Chestatee Middle School. She had been a teacher there since August of 2015.

"The Hall County School District is conducting an internal investigation and is working in cooperation with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office," Higgins said in a news release.

"We have notified the parents at both Chestatee Middle community and Chestatee High School through our instant messenger system, which sends out texts, phone calls and emails," Higgins said in a phone interview.

The bulk of the drugs seized from the residence came in the form of cocaine, 61 kilos. Authorities also seized 1 kilo of heroin and two semi-automatic rifles, according to MANS officials.

"I've seen one other kilogram of heroin, and I've seen about 88 kilos of cocaine.  This would be up there in the top few that I've ever seen," Ware said.

Both female suspects were in the process of being booked into the Hall County Jail Friday afternoon.

They are each charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking heroin, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Investigators have obtained warrants for Ricardo Brito on the same charges. They encouraged anyone with information on his whereabouts to call them.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol, City of Gainesville Uniform Patrol, Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia National Guard Counterdrug Task Force assisted in the investigation.

"The agents had information that there was a pretty substantial amount of both cocaine and heroin, as well as weapons, and as it turns out there were, so you know, better safe than sorry," Ware said in reference to the number of agencies involved.

The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be pending.

"I do know that agents recovered what they believe to be anabolic steroids," Ware said.
