Sugar Hill approves 'BYOB' ordinance for city sponsored events

Posted 11:04AM on Tuesday 14th March 2017 ( 7 years ago )

Sugar Hill City Council gave its approval Monday night to an alcohol ordinance that would allow for "BYOB" (bring your own beer) at city sponsored events.

The new ordinance does not apply to outside events, according to Paul Radford, city manager.

"It would allow folks to bring and consume alcohol only at specific events that are selected by the city council," said Radford when reached by phone.

Outside events can still sell alcohol on-site, provided organizers obtain a special permit, but those events will not fall under the "BYOB" umbrella, said Radford. Glass containers are still not allowed.

City leaders passed this ordinance with Sugar Hill's summer concert series on the horizon, which will bring acts such as Boz Scaggs and KC and the Sunshine Band to "The Bowl."

More information about the concerts can be found here.
