The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia recently announced the organization has received a $40,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help with its low-cost spay/neuter clinic.
The grant will pay for 800 spay and neuter surgeries, allowing the clinic to keep its costs low for pet parents, a press release stated.
“We are so grateful to PetSmart Charities for their dedication to saving lives through supporting affordable spay/neuter surgery,” said Julie Edwards, HSNEGA Executive Director. “The impact of this grant goes beyond just 800 surgeries - it will result in tens of thousands of companion animals who don’t wind up in shelters facing euthanasia.”
Through the remainder of February and through the month of March, HSNEGA will offer a Beat the Heat special to spay and neuter before "litter season" in the spring. The clinic is only open Tuesday through Friday, but you can request an appointment any time online.
PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness through increased spay and neuter efforts. With the help of animal welfare partners, such as HSNEGA, PetSmart Charities has funded over 1.4 million spay and neuter surgeries in the U.S. since 2009.
