Brummett's identity was confirmed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation State Crime Lab in Decatur on Tuesday, Barrett said, adding the delay in positive identification was due to a backlog of cases at the lab.

A memorial service for Brummett will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sylvan Valley Lodge on Duncan Bridge Road in Sautee.
