The body of a Conyers man was recovered from Lake Lanier Sunday morning.
According to Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks of the Hall County Sheriff’s office, the body of 58-year-old John Lawrence Stanford was recovered from the waters at Aqualand Marina at around 9:30 a.m.
Wilbanks said that investigators learned that Stanford had been staying on a friend’s boat, and that the owner discovered the body after arriving at the marina. Stanford was last seen Saturday afternoon by other tenants in the area.
Wilbanks said there were no obvious signs of trauma, and that foul play is not suspected at this time. The victim’s body has been sent to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s office, and the case remains under investigation.
