Hall County Government is kicking off the county's Bicentennial Year with the release of a 2018 Bicentennial calendar.

The calendars were produced in partnership with the Lake Lanier Convention and Visitors Bureau, the University of North Georgia and the Times.

"Each month contains a series of art pieces that were created by art students at the University of North Georgia," said Stacey Dickson, president of Lake Lanier CVB.  "The artwork reflects various historic sites, parks, landmarks and businesses as their inspiration in an effort to celebrate the amazing tourism destinations this County has to offer as we embark on its 200th year."

Featured landmarks include Lake Lanier, Elachee Nature Science Center, University of North Georgia, Brenau University, Browns Bridge, Road Atlanta, the Atlanta Falcons Training Complex, the Rabbittown rabbit statue and the Northeast Georgia Medical Center campus.  The various art pieces are expected to be combined into a mural for display somewhere in Hall County during 2018.

The calendars are free and are available at the reception desk on the first floor of the Hall County Government Center.   They will remain available while supplies last.

The calendars are one of many things planned throughout the year to help celebrate the county's Bicentennial, according to county officials.   More information can be found at www.hallcounty.org/bicentennial.

"We look forward to a year full of celebrations and remembrances as we mark this milestone with the citizens we serve," said Board of Commissioners Chairman Richard Higgins.

Hall County was founded on Dec. 15, 1818.
