Gainesville High School had eight Math Team students to compete in the University of North Georgia Math Tournament recently and they came home with the top team award.
The team was comprised of the following students: Guillermo Beltran, Hiram Martinez, Spencer Sumner, Grayson Wagner, Grace O'Keefe, Ben Burns, Anne Marie Dye, and Mary Nelson Bell.
The tournament consisted of four parts, and students had the opportunity to compete as a group and as an individual. The students won the following awards:
2nd Place - Multiple Choice Test - Mary Nelson Bell (She missed first place by 1 question.)
2nd Place - Problem Solving Team - Guillermo Beltran, Hiram Martinez, Mary Nelson Bell, and Grace O'Keefe
2nd Place - Mathematics & Logic Strategy Games - Spencer Sumner and Ben Burns
1st Place Overall for the Team Award
