The Hall County Planning Commission recommended a pair of items at their meeting Monday evening in Gainesville.

The first was a request from the owners of a mobile home park off of Cleveland Highway to allow some existing lots to be used for recreational vehicles. The park is on Casper Drive and has dozens of existing mobile home lots. Owner Gary Glover said he wanted to rent the lots to construction workers who needed to stay in the area.

"It would help me upgrade to get rid of some of the older, smaller mobile homes in the park," Glover said. "I'm only looking for month-to-month rentals."

One nearby resident asked if Glover intended to clear land to build new lots, which Glover said he did not. The planning commission unanimously approved the request.

The second item was a request from a man looking to start a landscaping business on a six acre tract of land on Old Winder Highway just south of Winder Highway. Scott Cooper wants to open the business some time in early 2018 and the proposal includes plans for a small office building, a gravel parking lot and storage bays for equipment.

No one spoke in opposition to the request, however some officials asked for documentation that a pond that once sat on the property had been properly filled. Cooper said he was able to provide that documentation and the request was also approved unanimously.

Both requests will go before the Hall County Commission at its meeting on January 11, 2018.
