UNG women's basketball defeats Fort Valley State, 71-51

FORT VALLEY — Four Nighthawks finished in double figures as the University of North Georgia women's basketball team ran past Fort Valley State, 71-51, Monday night at FVSU's HPE Complex. North Georgia is now 6-1 after the completion of the non-conference schedule.

After the opening basket by the Wildcats, North Georgia went on a 16-6 run to take the lead for good. UNG stretched its lead to as many as 22 points before settling at the 20-point final margin.

NOTES
- Mackenzie Darrah led all scorers with 19 points on 6-11 shooting and 7-10 from the free throw line. Amber Skidgel finished with 13, while Vanessa Agrusa ended up one board short of her second double-double of the season. Julianne Sutton earned her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

- Abbie Franklin pulled down a career-high nine rebounds off the bench to go with a career-high eight points.

- The Nighthawks pulled down 21 offensive rebounds, nine more than Fort Valley State.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks have 12 days between games because of finals. They will next take the floor on December 16 on the road at Flagler. Tipoff in St. Augustine, Florida, is set for 1:30 p.m.
