Girls basketball: Branch, Chestatee, Buford pick up key wins

The Flowery Branch girls basketball team took out Class AAAAAA No. 2 Northview 56-41 on Saturday.

The Lady Falcons sprinted to a 20-11 first quarter lead and never looked back, leading 31-21 at the half and 40-33 after three quarters.

Caroline Wysocki paced the Branch with 18 points, while Lexie Sengkhammee added 11. Taniyah Worth also scored 9 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and provided 8 assists. Ashlee Locke also scored 6 and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Ashley Woodroffe added 6 points and 5 assists.


CHESTATEE GIRLS 39,
NORTH OCONEE 37

The Lady War Eagles bounced back from a Friday loss to North Forsyth with a victory on Saturday.

Lindsey Caudell paced Chestatee with 14 points, including 10 scored in the second half (6 in the fourth). Peri Satterfield also added 9 on three 3-pointers, all in the first quarter

The Lady War Eagles jumped out to a 17-6 first quarter lead and then out-scored the Lady Titans 13-8 in the fourth to seal the win.


BUFORD GIRLS 48,
WESLEYAN 46 OT

The Lady Wolves (5-0) got balanced scoring to push past fellow power Wesleyan on Saturday in overtime.

Ebony Grant scored 11 points to pace Buford, while Tate Walters added 10. Tory Ozment also scored 9 and Audrey Weiner 8.

Buford will play host to Cedar Shoals to Tuesday to open Region 8-AAAAA play.
